Commercial Silk Int'l

Build Project List

situation:

C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. recently built a new corporate headquarters overlooking the Minnesota River. This clean, contemporary facility wanted narrow vertical trees to accentuate the columns and expand the open two-story lobby. Lighting from all sides of the building lit the lobby area; however, the lobby did not receive enough light from above for live tropical plants to survive. In order to maintain a healthy plant appearance, the architect considered using artificial plants, and contracted Commercial Silk Int’l to provide the artificial bamboo trees for the main lobby, amongst other small artificial trees strategically placed throughout their corporate office headquarters.

initiatives:

Commercial Silk Int’l specified the artificial bamboo tree height, artificial foliage density, and the plant container size. In addition, we identified all the major considerations that needed to be addressed including fire codes, financial budgets, and the contemporary atmosphere. We designed fire retardant artificial bamboo trees that would scale the building lobby and maintain a healthy appearance.

results:

Commercial Silk Int’l manufactured and installed 30’ artificial Oriental Bamboo trees using fire retardant foliage. The green artificial bamboo foliage accentuated the contrasting red structural columns, and the artificial trees did not obstruct views from any angle. The bamboo trees successfully coincided with the lobby's clean and contemporary atmosphere.
