Artificial Palm Trees In Brookdale Mall

SITUATION:

Brookdale Shopping Mall management wanted to transform their commercial property into a brighter, fresher retail atmosphere using tropical plants and palm trees. Though skylights in main gathering areas were added, they did not provide adequate lighting for live plants. With lots of kids and activity in the mall and the potential for the plants and trees to take abuse, a durable, cost-effective solution was also desired. Deciding that artificial plants and trees were a good long-term solution for their environment, Brookdale management contracted Commercial Silk Int'l for their silk plant and tree requirements, including an interior landscaping plan intended to create a tropical, enlivening atmosphere using fake palms.

INITIATIVES:

Working with the project architecture firm, Commercial Silk specified artificial palm tree varieties and heights, artificial foliage density, and container sizes. Other major factors, such as fire codes and financial budgets, retail setting potential mishandling, and the desired theme, were also taken into consideration during the planning phase.

RESULTS:

Commercial Silk designed a fire retardant artificial tropical landscape with artificial palm tree varieties uncommonly seen in the midwest. Palm tree products included custom 16' to 20' fake Fishtail Palms with delicate, lacy foliage, robust trunks, and high branches to allow in natural light and provide unobstructed views. Oriental bamboo trees, peace lily bush, and pothos vine were also incorporated, bringing to life the enlivened, fresh atmosphere set out in the project planning stages.
