situation:
The facilities manager for the Prairie Lakes Health Care System, a national leader in health care services and joint replacement surgery located in Watertown, SD, wanted to round out a recent lobby renovation with plants and trees indigenous to the area, including faux Olive tree and fake Olive branch decoration. Unique to the building was the gift shop, which was located below a custom planter not easily accessible to the maintenance required for live plants. Intuition told the manager that the Olive trees and branches would soften some of the harder architectural lines throughout the building, and he contacted Commercial Silk Int’l to explore the possibilities.

Commercial Silk Int’l visited the facility and was able to provide many faux Olive tree and fake Olive branch recommendations that would work in the space. It was decided that the signature design piece would be a large artificial Olive tree and would also include Arboricola bushes and artificial grasses. With the faux trees and plants specified, the Commercial Silk Int’l designers used digital imaging to help the facility manager envision the final product.
results:
With the digital imaging and selection of faux trees and branches finalized, Commercial Silk Int’l custom manufactured the artificial Black Olive tree to work with the ceiling height of the lobby. The delicate two-toned foliage of the large artificial tree complimented the natural-looking stonework, and the height of the tree branches allowed people to walk underneath it, providing an enchanting sense of scale for visitors. The faux plants and branches successfully softened the architectural lines of the building, most notably near the gift shop, and assisted in keeping the monthly budget to a minimum by eliminating ongoing maintenance charges.
