Institutional money management firm INTECH recently moved its headquarters into more than 50,000 square feet of space on the top two floors of CityPlace Tower located in West Palm Beach, FL. This strategic move served to accommodate the company’s recent and projected growth, and to establish a headquarters that reflects its leadership position among asset management firms nationwide and around the globe. Commercial Silk Int’l was contracted to complete the landscape design, tree manufacturing and plant installation for a signature artificial landscaping project using faux Bamboo plants and trees.
The Commercial Silk Int’l team began by analyzing the project budget budget and client design expectations, which included highlighting the scenic view from the top floors of this upscale Class A Office Tower. Challenges included preserving the amazing view of the Atlantic Ocean, sourcing enough faux greenery to scale the 30’ ceilings, navigating the building’s tight corners and its single 40" doorway, and complying with State of Florida building fire codes.
The design team identified that the best way to capture the oceanic views was to frame the horizon with a large museum quality faux Black Olive tree. To compliment the large Black Olive tree, Commercial Silk Int’l custom designed 22’ Oriental Bamboo groves with faux Bamboo plants and trees. The lighter foliage of the bambook would not obstruct the views but did offer enough of a light feathering of greenery to add an essential texture to the overall look and feel.
The artificial Olive tree was manufactured with a single, hand sculpted trunk that allowed for the branches to be detached and re-attached, providing the flexibility to accommodate the tight corridors and single freight elevator. The faux Bamboo groves were planted in two 20’ long planters running perpendicular to the perimeters of the open office floor plan. The installation was completed in 3 days, satisfying Florida’s state fire code requirements as well as our client’s budget and design expectations.
