situation:
McCaffery Interests and the city of Minneapolis had a vision of completing the downtown Minneapolis Block E development with decorative indoor trees and decorative indoor planters. The indoor trees would put the finishing touches on the design and help establish Block E as a connector between the nearby warehouse, financial and entertainment districts.
initiatives:
Commercial Silk Int’l worked closely with Block E representatives to design a non-standard interior landscape treatment with decorative trees that would enhance the customer experience through the addition of plant varieties uncommonly seen in the Midwest. Large Palm trees ranging in height from 6 to 26 feet were chosen for their texture, color, and out-of-context feel. After placing the trees in decorative plant containers throughout the complex, each were given live Bromeliad ground plantings to complete the look and feel.
results:
The decorative indoor trees and planters successfully contributed to the vision of creating a unique and fun atmosphere in Block E. The trees require little ongoing maintenance, hold up well to wear and tear, and were made with fire retardant foliage to pass muster with local fire code requirements.
