situation:
A five star hotel contacted Commercial Silk Int'l, challenging it to create a romantic, park-like design for its restaurant using artificial trees. The restaurant, located in the main hotel lobby, and the dining area can been seen from surrounding high traffic streets, and the artificial tree decoration would need to create both a stunning visual design from outside and a romantic dining experience within.
The tight specifications of the silk trees included a wide canopy to create intimate spaces for patrons, and multi-stem trunks that needed to be tightly woven together to maximize floor space for patrons and wait staff. The hotel owner also wanted the ability to rotate the large artificial trees to maximize display effect. Up-lighting the silk trees was a necessary design element to create a romantic atmosphere, so electrical outlets were added to the trees along with wire hiding capability.
initiatives:
Working closely with the owner of the hotel, Commercial Silk Int'l built four custom silk Acacia trees. The Acacia trees were built simultaneously to make sure they fit together snugly and that the canopy blanketed the dining area. Custom base plates and platforms for all of the trees were manufactured to allow room for the electrical supply and give the Acacia trees the ability to be rotated once they were reassembled on site. After each silk Acacia tree was positioned properly, they were bolted to the floor, and custom wood plant containers were placed at the base of each tree.
results:
A busy upscale restaurant now exists with a very distinct romantic park-like design decoration. Commercial Silk Int’l successfully designed, produced and installed the artificial Acacia trees with fire retardant foliage that passed all state and local fire code requirements. In addition, our dedicated installation crew completed the installation overnight to reduce disruption to the guest experience.
