Silk Acacia Trees Create Romantic Dining Area

SITUATION:

A five star hotel contacted Commercial Silk Int'l and challenged the artificial plant manufacturer to build four large, unique trees to create a romantic park-like ambiance in their new restaurant. The restaurant is located in the hotel's main lobby, and the dining area could also been seen from surrounding high traffic streets.

The tight specifications of the silk trees included a wide canopy to create intimacy among the patrons, and the tree's multiple trunks were requested to be tightly woven together to maximize floor space for patrons and wait staff, and because the tree trunks also must be visually impressive for the upscale clientele.

The hotel owners also wanted the ability to rotate the large trees once they were erected to maximize display effect. Uplighting the silk trees was a necessary design element to create the romantic atmosphere, so electrical outlets were added to the trees, hiding the wires.

INITIATIVES:

Working closely with the owner of the hotel, Commercial Silk Int'l built four custom silk acacia trees. The acacia trees were built simultaneously to make sure all trees fit snug together and that the tree's canopy blanketed the intended dining area. Custom base plates and platforms for all of the trees were manufactured to allow room for the electrical supply and the platforms gave the acacia trees the ability to rotate once they were reassembled on site. After each silk acacia tree was positioned properly, they were bolted to the floor, and custom wood plant containers were placed at the base of each tree.

RESULTS:

A busy upscale restaurant now exists with a very distinct romantic park-like atmosphere. We successfully designed, manufactured and installed four silk acacia trees with our fire retardant acacia foliage that passed all state and local fire code requirements. In addition, our dedicated installation crew completed the complex installation overnight which posed minimal disruption to the hotel's guests.
