ARTIFICIAL ARBORICOLA BUSHES FOR INTERIOR LANDSCAPING

Schefflera Arboricola, commonly known as the Umbrella Plant, is an evergreen shrub native to Taiwan and Hainan. Often the arboricola plant is multiple stemmed. It is typically grown in a bush form, although tree forms, bonsai trees and braided stemmed trees are also common. Pinching the stems of the Arboricola encourages branching, and this forms a more dense shrub. If the plant is not occasionally trimmed, the branches will stretch out of shape for an ungroomed appearance.

Leaf color and pattern in the dwarf Schefflera plant ranges from a dark green leaf to variegated varieties in creamy white to yellow edges. The glossy leaves are dense, and seven to nine leaflets gently fan out into a rounded umbrella. Arboricola displays orange-yellow fruit only in the winter.

Tolerant of neglect and poor growing conditions, the Arboricola plant is popularly grown as a houseplant. When properly cared for, the tropical plant has an extensive root system and will have a long lifespan. If grown in full sun, the arboricola plant will become healthy, thick and full - especially the variegated varieties, but it will adapt to lower light levels. Schefflera Arboricola likes a moist environment, but not wet. Black leaves are an indication the plant is soil that is too wet. However, the leaf tips will wrinkly if they become too dry. Spider mites like this plant, watch for them on the undersides of the leaf.

Artificial Arboricola bushes require less maintenance than live plants do indoors. Commercial Silk Int'l designs and manufactures many standard and custom forms of the Schefflera Arboricola plant using our Arboricola foliage. The Arboricola trees range in height from 5' to 8', replicating the characteristics of the live plant features. The dwarf Arboricola bushes can be created as small as 18", and larger to 42" with its dark green, glossy leaflets.
