ARTIFICIAL BOUGAINVILLEA FOR INTERIOR LANDSCAPING
Bougainvillea gets its name from Louis Antoine de Bougainville, a French Navy admiral who discovered the plant in Brazil in 1768. Bougainvillea is a genus of flowering plants native to the coasts of Brazil and other South American countries in the biome of the Amazon Rainforest. A tropical or subtropical climate is preferred, and the plant's vines cling to climb the other plants, reaching for sunlight.
The Bougainvillea vine is thorny and woody, growing anywhere from three feet to thirty feet tall. Typically, Bougainvillea is a climbing plant; however, the plant will bloom beautifully on branches 18"-20" long. It gracefully climbs itself up walls and trellis, as well as makes colorful hedges and bushes. Bougainvillea will also settle as a houseplant in hanging baskets, or as a potted plant.
Sometimes referred to as "paper flower", Bougainvilleas' colorful bracts are thin and papery to the touch. The colorful Bougainvillea blossoms small, white flowers surrounded by three clusters of bright petals (bracts) that may be burgundy, pink, magenta, purple, red, orange, white, or yellow. Since Bougainvillea are rapid growing, they flower all year in warm climates and have vibrant bloom cycles of four to six weeks.
The Bougainvillea plant is easy to care for, and is virtually pest free and disease resistant. Frequent fertilization and a light watering will keep the plant at its best. If over watered, Bougainvillea refuses to flower, and may lose leaves or wilt. It does, however, have a fine root system and needs to be planted a well drained soil to prevent water retention contributing to root rot. The vine is a natural choice for planting in coastal regions, as it also has a high salt tolerance.
Artificial Bougainvillea foliage offers the same bright colors of the plant's showy foliage with minimal maintenance. Silk plants only need a light dusting, and don't require sunlight, thus are ideal for interior landscaping. Our silk Bougainvillea interior landscape designs will bloom year round in any climate. Silk Bougainvillea plants and foliages are sold in hot pink, orchid, tangerine, and yellow.
