Varieties Of Artificial Ficus Expands

Artificial Ficus

Artificial trees are used not only as decor - a ficus trees can be stylized to create a heavy foliage canopy or to terminate a view.

The ficus is a genre containing nearly 800 species and 2000 varieties of plants, ranging from woody evergreens, climbing plants, shrubs and vines that have existed for 60-80 million years. These plants are grown in many different climates including tropical forests, the Middle East, Africa and in the United States.

A commercial fruit bearing species of ficus; the Common Fig F carica, produces the fig fruit. There are many other fig plants such as Banyan, which also produces an edible fruit and seems to replant itself as it grows with its branches dipping back down into the earth's soil and spreading new growth. Our giant artificial banyan has been replicated to 25'.

Although the ficus is related to the banyan tree, the popular ficus tree does not bear fruit. However, it is a staple manufactured for the silk plant industry; our ficus benjamina exotic stem is particularly popular among architects and property owners for its twisted and gnarly natural wood stem and is manufactured up to 12' high.

Our artificial ficus trees are incredibly realistic and do not require plant maintenance. Challenging ficus tree characteristics such as adaptation to a new environment, over/under watering and fighting insects are common challenges to the living ficus tree. These challenges are not applicable to the artificial ficus trees because they are manufactured with silk ficus foliage. Try a large artificial hawaiian ficus to make a statement in your building's lobby or use a large ficus to theme a faux landscape. Silk ficus trees come in standard sizes ranging from 4' to 24', and are a very popular choice in commercial landscapes for their realistic appearance and affordable artificial foliage.

This replicated hawaiian ficus is 8' high and manufactured with our artificial variegated ficus foliage.

Our ficus trees come in many varieties: variegated ficus, our green ficus benjamina tree and artificial ficus alii trees are our most popular varieties, while ficus half trees emphasizes height while accommodating small areas, and more exotic varieties are crafted with a twisted stem. Our artificial ficus tree collection continues to expand with new and custom shaped trees. Our latest addition is a silk ficus screen that can be used on wall and ceiling applications to create intimate areas or hide unsightly views.

In addition to size and silk ficus leaf variety, it is important to consider using fire retardant foliage for indoor landscapes. Understanding the fire code requirements for a particular project can often be challenging and confusing. Every State adopts their own fire code and in fact so to does every municipality.

Throughout history, ficus trees have been produced for food, religious and practical uses. Butterflies feed on figs, the fruit produced by living banyan trees that replicated by Commercial Silk Int'l with our artificial banyan foliage. And the fig fruit was referred to as honey in the Promised Land. Ancient Egyptians used the ficus tree's soft wood to make some of the caskets for their mummies and the people of Uganda used the bark of the ficus to make paper.
