red oak tree

A replica silk Oak tree can make a powerful addition to an exterior or interior landscape design space. They can be made to embody the natural ruggedness and charm typical to real Oak trees by replicating their thick, sturdy branches and using fake Oak leaves. Replica silk Oak trees are great for waiting rooms, outdoor landscaping projects, and have even been used as covers for unsightly building columns.

Replica Oak Tree Description

Oak trees are either deciduous or evergreen, yet all have toothed Oak leaves and dense, furrowed bark. In the spring, Oak flowers release large amounts of pollen into the air, producing a distinctive fruit known to most people as the acorn. The acorn is a cup-like structure called a cupule — each contains one seed and takes 6-18 months to mature. This fruit is a favorite among many species of birds and animals, including gray squirrels, blue jays, chipmunks, deer mice, and even black bears. In addition to replicating the significant parts of an artificial Oak tree, acorns can also be added as decoration to increase authenticity (fake squirrels can be used as well, but that’s a topic for another day!).

Silk Oak Geography

The Oak genus is native to the north temperate zone, from the cold latitudes down to tropical Asia and the Americas. In the Middle Ages, quarter-sawed boards were used for interior paneling of upscale buildings in and around London. It was an easy commodity because there were vast forests of Oak covering the more significant part of central Europe at the time. English Oak was a favorite timber of the Greeks and Romans, who used it to build their long ships, churches, and even cannons. Today, there are over 80 species of the Oak growing in North America. Their diversity can also be reflected in custom manufactured silk Oak trees by an expert producer of artificial trees.

Faux Oak Leaves Usage

The wood from the Oak tree has excellent strength and hardness. It is also incredibly immune to insects and fungal attacks because of its high tannin content. Oak is a great wood to use for furniture and flooring. Perhaps most famously, Oak is used for the barrels in which red wines, sherry, brandy, and other spirits are commonly aged, both in Europe and the United States. Oak wood chips are used for meat, smoking fish, and cheeses, along with other foods. Interestingly, Yamaha Drums use Japanese Oak in the making of professional drums, giving the drum a louder, brighter tone compared to Maple or Birch wood. Faux Oak leaves are commonly used in army regalia — for both the German and American armies they symbolize rank and are embroidered into uniforms.

Types of Fake Oak Leaves: Incorporating a fake Oak tree into interior landscaping projects can add charm and distinction to any space. They can be used to disguise columns, create a focal point, or make a very high ceiling look a little less tall. Besides, fake Oak leaves look so real that they are commonly mistaken for real leaves. The leaves can be IFR (inherently fire retardant) to be used safely indoors and comply with fire codes.
